Minya is located in central Egypt, on the west bank of the Nile River, 245 kilometers south of Cairo, with the Nile River passing through the western part of the city. It is the capital of Minya Governorate and the site of the excavation of Tuna El-Gebel.
Minya is known locally as the “bridge of Upper Egypt” due to its geographical location in central Egypt, connecting the north and south of the country. This city is a focal point for Egyptian Christians and is also home to Minya University. Visitors can explore the Suzanne Mubarak Center for Arts and the newly established Minya Museum, which mainly showcases the city’s history, culture, and traditions.
