Bandung – Bandung Travel Guide in Indonesia

Bandung is situated in a highland basin surrounded by the peaks of the western volcanic mountains of Java Island. It is the capital of West Java Province and the fourth largest city in Indonesia. In 1955, the first international conference held by some countries from Asia and Africa, known as the “Bandung Conference,” took place here.

Bandung boasts beautiful and tranquil scenery, with a spring-like climate all year round, earning its reputation as the most beautiful city in Indonesia and often referred to as the “Paris of Java.” The city is home to significant landmarks such as the Independence Palace, the venue of the Bandung Conference, the Bandung hot springs nestled in lush valleys, and serene mountain villages. Moreover, Bandung is renowned for its exquisite Dutch colonial-era architecture, with the most famous being buildings in the tropical Art Deco style. Mount Tangkuban Perahu, located 36 kilometers north of Bandung, is a well-known active volcano in the area and the only volcano in Java that can be directly accessed by car to its crater. The massive Queen’s Crater exhibits a brown color, emits a strong sulfur smell, and releases intermittent bursts of blue smoke, with the base filled with black lava. There are also smaller craters nearby that visitors can explore on foot.
