Elbląg is a city in northern Poland, located in the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, serving as the administrative center of Elbląg County. It is a city with a long history and numerous relics, definitely worth a visit.
Towards the end of World War II, the city was almost completely destroyed. The parts of the city that were destroyed have been rebuilt, allowing people to admire the beautiful pre-war architecture. The St. Nicholas Cathedral, originally built in the 13th century in Gothic style, suffered a major fire in the late 18th century and was completely destroyed during World War II. It was later rebuilt and gained cathedral status in 1992. The Church of St. Mary, dating back to the 13th century, was destroyed during World War II and reconstructed in 1961, now serving as an art gallery open to the public. In addition, the Christian Church and the Holy Spirit Church, which date back to the 14th century, as well as the city gate built in 1319, are also must-visit sites.
