Bragança is a city in the northeast of Portugal, the capital of the Bragança District, located about 255 kilometers northeast of Porto and 515 kilometers from Lisbon, and is a city with a long history.
Bragança is a remote yet beautiful city, with many lovely buildings, including Portugal’s oldest and largest town hall (Domus Municipalis), a cathedral from the Renaissance period, a tall Church of Santa Maria, well-preserved ancient city walls overlooking the entire city. Museums housed in elegant buildings contain a collection of ancient ceramics, animal totems, sacred and exquisite artworks, Roman funeral objects, as well as important local religious and archaeological discoveries. The rich traditional festivals, regional cuisine, and a wide variety of flora and fauna in nearby natural parks are all worth exploring.
