Olomouc is located in the central part of Moravia, Czech Republic, along the Morava River. It is the sixth largest city in the Czech Republic and the capital of the Olomouc Region. The city historically served as the capital of Moravia and is now the administrative center of the Olomouc Region.

Olomouc boasts several large squares, with the Upper Square being the most famous. The most prominent building on the square is the Holy Trinity Column, a magnificent Baroque monument built between 1716 and 1754, standing at 35 meters tall. It is the largest Baroque sculptural group in the Czech Republic and was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2000, praised as “one of the most outstanding examples of Central European Baroque art at its peak.” The Saint Wenceslas Cathedral is the city’s most notable religious building, currently in Gothic architectural style, with a bell tower reaching a height of 100.65 meters, making it the fourth tallest structure in the Czech Republic. The Church of Saint Maurice is one of the most important symbols of Olomouc and has been designated as a national cultural landmark by the government, featuring the largest organ in Central Europe. Other attractions include the Hradisko Monastery, the Church of St. Michael, and the Greek Orthodox Church of Olomouc.
