Kragujevac-Serbia Kragujevac Travel Guide

Kragujevac is located in the heart of Serbia, being the fourth largest city after Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Niš. It is the capital of the Šumadija District and the largest city in the Šumadija region. The city serves as the economic, cultural, educational, healthcare, and political center of the Šumadija region and its surrounding areas.

The architecture of Kragujevac has been deeply influenced by two styles: traditional Turkish style and the Vienna Secession style of the 19th century, with modern architectural styles also present in the city. The Kragujevac People’s Museum consists of an archaeological museum with 100,000 exhibits, an art gallery with 1,000 art pieces, a folklore museum, and the Kragujevac and Šumadija City History Museum. The Old Foundry Museum showcases the industrial development history of Serbia and Kragujevac over the past century and a half.

Among the many cultural and historical sites in Kragujevac, the most representative ones include the Old Church, the Prince Mihailo Obrenović’s Residence, the Serbian Principality Parliament Building, the Palace of Prince Miloš, the City Courthouse, the Amika Mansion, and the October Memorial Square.
