Apia, Samoa Travel Guide

Apia is a beautiful tropical city, nestled among mountains and rivers, with picturesque scenery. Surrounding the city are lush coconut groves and a variety of exotic flowers and plants, presenting a tropical landscape. The downtown area is mostly made up of two-story wooden buildings, combining the characteristics of Pacific island nations with Western architectural styles.

The 3-kilometer-long waterfront road is the main street of Apia, running from west to east across the city. The street is tidy and lined with green trees. Along the waterfront road is Apia’s largest free market, where coconut, taro, bananas, vegetables, and tuna, which are the main agricultural and sideline products of Samoa, are sold as traditional foods. There is also Apia’s commercial district, selling traditional handicrafts such as fans, wood carvings, woven products, coconut shell carvings, small seashell necklaces, etc. Along the waterfront road stand the white Samoa Commercial Bank, the brown National Post Office, the red Polynesian Airlines, the National Tourism Office with its ethnic wooden structure, hotels, government departments, international organizations, making it a bustling area of Apia. Apia Park is located in the eastern part of the city and is a typical tropical garden with a large sports stadium inside.
