Golden Bay and Collingwood are the closest places to this scenic spot. Before you see Golden Bay, you will first enjoy the amazing scenery along the way. Slowly climbing the towering peak known as “Marble Mountain” is the first challenge. The signposts along the way are very clear, so as long as you pay a little attention, you won’t miss the Harwoods Hole (176 meters deep) and the Ngarua Caves. Near Marble Mountain is the Te Waikoropupu Springs (also known as Pupu Springs). On the other side of the mountain is a sacred place of the local Maori tribe. You can take a stroll on the surrounding walkways, with detailed signposts along the way.
