Tennant Creek is the only relatively large town between Katherine and Alice Springs on the Stuart Highway. Many travelers choose to stop over here for a night, exploring the town’s attractions and the Devil’s Marbles. Tennant Creek is the last gold rush town in Australia, and unusually, most of the gold deposits are not in quartz but in dark black iron ore.
